COVID-19 Resources: How Fisher Is Supporting Our Prospective Students

Online Pathway Status

We are currently accepting applications for our September 2022 cohort.

Our Response

At St. John Fisher University and the Wegmans School of Pharmacy, our first priority is supporting our Fisher community, including future students in our online pathway. We are continuing to work with our technology partner to ensure our online pathway launches as planned this fall, pending the necessary approvals from ACPE and the New York State Education Department.

We are still actively accepting applications and have made the following changes to our requirements to help our prospective students. Here’s how we are working to remove barriers that may stand between you and a future pharmacy career during the COVID-19 pandemic.

  • The PCAT is optional for the September 2022 cohort. If you believe the PCAT provides evidence of your growth and academic preparedness, you may still complete the PCAT during the next administration.
  • Our support services are ongoing: At this time, our admissions team remains active and available. You can reach out at any time to speak with a counselor.

Digital Campus: Our online pathway supports student learning from virtually anywhere. The Wegmans School of Pharmacy started developing our online pathway in 2018—well before the urgent need for online learning emerged. Our faculty have been working diligently over the past several months to design and develop their coursework to specifically address our online learners’ needs.

The digital campus is designed to support connection and collaboration between people across the country. It provides a unique combination of high-quality didactic, lecture-based videos and assignments with live classes for in-depth discussion led by the same Fisher faculty who teach on campus.

In-Person Experiences: Hands-on, in-person learning is a cornerstone of our online pathway, with 30% of the curriculum consisting of experiential learning. At this time, we have made no changes to this component of the online pathway. We are monitoring the situation closely to identify and address any adaptations that may be required in light of the pandemic.

Our entire campus has come together to support each other during this time of uncertainty. Pharmacists are needed now more than ever, and we are committed to supporting our prospective students and future colleagues.

FAQ

Are you still accepting applications to the online pathway?

Yes. Currently applications are being accepted and processed. Learn more about our deadlines here.

What should I do if I am unable to send PCAT scores, letters of recommendation, or official transcripts?

To support our prospective students during this time, we are updating the application requirements for our upcoming cohorts. Effective immediately, the Wegmans School of Pharmacy is no longer requiring the PCAT; it is optional.

If you have already taken the PCAT and would like to submit your scores as proof of your academic preparedness, you can still submit your scores or take the PCAT during its next administration.

If you would like to start or have already begun an application and are having difficulty securing required documentation, contact an admissions counselor at (833) 976-1429 or admissions@onlinepharmd.sjf.edu.
